NAFP Meeting Minutes: May 13th, 2010
Meeting held at Cargill, Blair. 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm.
17 members in attendance.
Jill Kuzo welcomed the members who attended the meeting in May 13th. Jim Tischer gave a brief introduction to the meeting site.
A brief introduction of NAFP members who attended the meeting was given.
Jill Kuzo announced our Facebook site where all can post upcoming events and discussions. Attendance at the Nebraska Environmental Health Association meeting held at Under the Sink, household waste disposal in Omaha. Jill will attend their Board of Directors Meeting on May 20th in Lincoln to discuss ways our groups can work together. Working with FSIS to provide free webinars and information – links will be posted to nefoodprotection.org. Conference call with IAFP Food Hygiene and Sanitation PDG will be sent out to membership before June.
Carol Valenzuela updated the new members in attendance about the second meeting held at BCG Solutions and the election of the Board of Directors (selected during the first meeting).
Announcement that our Charter has been granted by the International Association for Food Protection. This will be presented at the Annual Meeting in August in Anaheim.
Report from Annual Meeting Committee:
Conference call held. Discussed ideas for
symposiums such as a regulatory panel including panel members from industry and
government to provide different perspectives. Will
look for sponsors for different tables for attendees. Will assign seats
to force interaction and prevent flocking to coworkers. Will put together
meeting ideas and send to membership in surveymonkey to get feedback from
membership. Ideas can be submitted to the Committee. The members are:

Website was visited and viewed by all. Call for suggestions in
resources page. Tracy Kurkowski volunteered to look into availability of report
put together by Silliker weekly. Forward all suggestions to Marsha Wilderdyke
for posting.
Jim Tischer presented an overview of the Cargill Blair Corn Milling facility. Members were invited to view the site through binoculars following the meeting. Future meeting at Cargill will include tour of facility when it is not under construction.
The next meeting site and date will be determined and sent out to members separately.
